Assessment of Student Achievement at JES

State education statutes and regulations require that every public school have in place a "Comprehensive Local Assessment System", which has two main parts:

  • State-mandated tests, which are used in measuring schools' progress under the accountability system required by the federal No Child Left Behind Act.
  • Locally-chosen tests, which expand upon the State tests in terms of subject matter tested, and which must comply with certain standards and requirements.
